A quiet week

Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 9 May 2018
» The past week has been relatively quiet, allowing many to enjoy the balmy weather that is delighting England at present.

» On Monday last week Fr Abbot and the Abbot President drove to Downside to close the canonical visitation of that community; as one of Downside's external councillors, Fr Oliver joined them for the trip.

» The next day a new (well, almost) Skoda was ready to go, replacing the abbatial Skoda that died the week before on the way to Ormskirk. Also on Tuesday Fr Alban was at Buckfast again giving another in his series of talks to the brethren there on the vows and lectio divina.

» In nature news, the drone rebellion in the beehives has been dealt with and the cuckoo has finally made an appearance here, rather later in the year than usual.

» Tomorrow we will be celebrating the Ascension of the Lord on its proper day again. Mass in the abbey church will be at 0745. Fr Gabriel will be going to the Oratory School in London to preach at their Mass.
