Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr

» From 21 to 25 October, Bishop Peter Doyle and the clergy of the Northampton Diocese were at Douai on retreat.

» There was a community meeting on 21 October to discuss a response to Bishop Philip Egan’s recent diocesan questionnaire on the present state and future possibilities of the Diocese of Portsmouth.

» On 22 October Abbot Geoffrey attended a committee meeting in London of the Catholic Archives Society, of which he is President.

» The Young Catholic Adults, with their leader, Damian Barker, and members of the Schola Gregoriana were at Douai from 26 to 27 October for their annual visit. They celebrated Mass in the Extraordinary Form.

» Rather than use pictures of Fr Nicholas in his more recent years, it seems better to remember him here in his prime, not long before the car accident that had such a permanent effect on his health. This photo is from a series of community portraits photographed by David Hatfull in 1990.
