The monastic community at Douai was as struck as anyone could be on hearing the news of the death of Pope Francis. Thankfully his last illness was not too long for him to endure. May he rest in peace.
Tomorrow, the day of his funeral, our conventual Mass will be offered for the repose of his soul, the third such Mass here this week.
Thereafter our prayers will come naturally to be more focused on the upcoming conclave in early May, asking the Holy Spirit to guide the cardinals to elect the best pope for these troubled days for Church and world.
