Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 22 June 2020
» On 16 June Fr Gabriel, having "tanged" a wild swarm of bees, managed to bring half of it into the Douai family of beehives. "Tanging" is the laying of claim by a beekeeper on a wild swarm, laying dibs on it as it were - a new addition to our vocabulary for many of us.

» Fr Oliver is investigating re-opening a water bore that was closed in 1952. It had been near Fr Wilfrid's old radio mast and had a water tower at one time. If able to be revived, the bore will be used to provide free water for the gardens.

» Two deaths are noted here: Celia Heron, for a long time a parishioner of the monastery parish, recently passed away in Ireland; and Beverley Jamison, mother of the Abbot President, recently died having amassed 110 years of life on this earth. May they rest in peace.
