» On Tuesday 3 May the EBC Regimen, the Abbot President's council of abbots, met in person for the first time in 2 years, and at Douai. Joining them were some members of the various commissions making final preparations for the EBC General Chapter in July.
While the Regimen were at Douai the President, Abbot Christopher Jamison, held a celebratory lunch for the Regimen and the Douai community in tribute to Abbot Geoffrey's 17 years of valuable, and occasionally burdensome, service on the Regimen, and to mark Abbot Geoffrey's impending retirement after 24 years as abbot.
» The Abbot President will be at Douai this week to preside at the election of a new abbot on Wednesday. On Tuesday afternoon the formal prearation for the election will begin with the Tractatus. The election proper will take place on Wednesday morning, folloiwing the precise regulations set down by the EBC Constitutions.
Later on Wednesday the assembled community looks forward to giving double thanks to God, for the service of Abbot Geoffrey to the community these last 24 years, and for a new abbot to take on the significant burden of the modern abbacy. Please keep us all in your prayers this week.
