Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published in News · 21 February 2021
» This coming week two cameras should be installed in the abbey church to facilitate streaming some of the liturgy celebrated by the community. Which services in particular is yet to be decided.

» After a quiet Carnival, the community celebrated a quiet Ash Wednesday this year, receiving the ashes sprinkled over the head in accordance with Covid guidelines. It is the way the ashes are received in Rome, so it is not so strange. On Shrove Tuesday the community did not fail to have the customary pancakes.

» The Douai Magazine covering 2020 has been received from the printers, and will be distributed soon to our friends. It is available, of course, to be picked up at the monastery reception. Produced by Fr Hugh, it is, as ever, offered for free (though donations are always gratefully accepted!). It is a big edition this year, with a variety of articles and contributions reflecting the varied interests of the community and the spread of its relationships beyond the cloister.
