Covid-19 Lockdown

Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 23 March 2020
This evening the Prime Minister imposed a lockdown on the nation, included in which is the closure of all churches to the public indefinitely, and to prohibit the normal celebration of the sacraments; only funerals will be conducted, and then only at the graveside or crematorium, and subject to the government's social distancing provisions.

The monastic community regrets this necessary measure and requests that no one visit the monastery for the time being; the abbey church will be locked. Needless to say, the brethren will remain contactable by phone or email. Our friends, benefactors, confraters, oblates and old Dowegians will continue to be remembered in the community's prayers.

Fr Boniface has provided some more homilettes.

St Edmund, King & Martyr, patron saint of pandemics - pray for us.
