Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 7 June 2020
» After pontifical Mass on Pentecost Sunday, the community enjoyed a BBQ prepared by the monastery's catering manager Sarah, and her daughter Hannah, with help from Fr Gregory. The idea was probably not inspired by the image of Pentecost flame but it was suitably fitting nevertheless.

» Fr Oliver is busy degining and making metal planters to be used outside the library, with the first already in position. Alas there is no photo at hand to post.

» Fr Alexander at St Gregory's in Stratford-on-Avon reports that the sanctuary of the church, a work of Edward Pugin, has been restored to its former glory including the stencilling in the ceiling.

» During the week a number of the resident brethren joined other members of the English Benedictine Congregation across the globe for an online conference to hear Fr Michael Casey OCSO, a monk of Tarrawarra in Australia and a well-known spiritual writer, speak on Christ and Crisis, reflections on where we are during the current virus crisis. This is the first of a number of talks followed by question and answer sessions. The series is an initiative of the EBC's Continuing Formation Commission.
