Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 11 November 2019
» His body having been solemnly received into the abbey church the previous evening, Fr Nicholas' funeral took place the early afternoon of 6 November. The church was almost full with friends, Old Dowegians, parishioners and family. Among his family present was Fr Nicholas' sister Rina, 102 years of age, who travelled down from Liverpool for the occasion. Fr Nicholas is buried in the monastic graveyard at Douai. May he rest in peace.

» On 9 November the second annual Basil Gwydir Lecture was delivered in the Douai Park Pavilion by Charles Antelme, an Old Dowegian, who spoke on his career in the British army.
