Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
6 December 2021
» On 1 December, the abbot accompanied Willie Hartley Russell, the High Sheriff of Berkshire, to visit Grendon and Springhill prisons in Buckinghhamshire. They met the governor, and a number of  staff members and prisoners, and were impressed by both institutions.

» As part of the English Benedictine Conregation's preparation for the general chapter next year, on 4 December a number of the community attended an online talk by Sr Lynn McKenna OSB of Sacred Heart Monastery in Alabama (USA), regarding national and international Benedictine congregations.

» Please note that this year the community is continuing its recent practice of not sending Christmas cards, and donating money saved to charity. Nevertheless, the community is grateful to all those who remember it with Christmas greetings and assures all our oblates, confraters, Old Dowegians, friends and parishioners that you will be remembered with especialy fervour in our prayers this Christmas.
