Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
Published by HSK in News · 17 February 2020
» On 10 February Bishop Patrick McKinney of Nottingham and a number of his clergy came to Douai to make a five-day retreat led by Fr Gerard Skinner. On the same day Fr Abbot and Fr Alban attended the launch of The Way of Benedict by Dame Laurentia Johns OSB of Stanbrook Abbey. Fr Alban's review of the book is in the next issue of The Douai Magazine which is due out imminently.

» On 13 February the Douai Abbey Parishes' Trust met at St Gregory's, Stratford-upon-Avon, which allowed the trustees to inspect the restoration work currently underway in the church. Back at Douai the car parking area for the monks was levelled and gravelled to overcome the persistent problem of mudpools after rain. It should make for cleaner mnonks and cleaner cars.

» The committee of the newly-established Douai Fioundation met, with Fr Abbot in attendance. The Foundation has been formed by Old Dowegians to support Benedictine education projects internationally. More about it will be found in the forthcoming issue of The Douai Magazine.
