Quiet and Cold

Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
2 May 2021
It has been a quiet week at Douai. This Spring is proving to be a cold one but it is good weather for reading. During the week the work of revision has been at the fore. The resident community has further refined its Covid guidelines to suit the developing situation in England. A committee has begun meeting to begin to put into concrete effect the discussions the community has had over the last few years about revising its celebration of the divine office to fit more fruitfully our changed circumstances, current capabilities, and aspirations for the future. The committee is chaired by Fr Paul, whose work as liturgy secretary to the bishops' conference of England and Wales fits him well for the task, and its other members are Abbot Geoffrey with Frs Peter and Hugh.
