Summer Hiatus *updated*
» August in generally a quiet month at the monastery but it has been rendered even quieter due to the restrictions resulting from the virus crisis. It allows the resident community to harvest fruit more in a more leisurely way this year, and harvest highlights include the 200+ figs which have been picked from the one tree, and a bumper crop of apples.
» This coming Sunday the community will make its annual retreat. Apart from Fr Boniface, who arrived more than a week ago for some rest, the brethren resident elsewhere will not be coming in for the retreat, a major break with custom that has been forced on us by the restrictions. The retreat master, Bishop Michael Campbell, will be delivering his conferences remotely, For both him and the non-resident brethren the new medium of Zoom will be employed to allow for a virtual assembly of the community.
»»» Even though the pastoral programme has suffered due to the pandemic, there will be two days on Christian 'Mindfulness' in October. Details can be found by clicking here.
