Douai Abbey: The Monastery of St Edmund, King & Martyr
23 May 2021
» The guesthouse has now reopened on a limited basis as we edge towards a return to normal activity. We had a handful of residents guests during the past week.

» Zoom has been much in use. On 17 May Abbot Edmund zoomed in from Rome to explain to the community the progress in the work of the Agenda Committee preparing for the next General Chapter, which is due to be held at Douai. The next day Abbot Geoffrey zoomed into a meeting of the Catholic Archives Society. On 20 May the Douai Abbey Parishes Trusts convened on Zoom, during which it approved the trust's annual report.

» On today's great feast there was the traditional pontifical Mass, with the abbot on deck again in the afternoon to administer the sacrament of Confirmation in the abbey church to candidates from the parishes of Woolhampton and Wash Common.
