Douai Abbey is situated 1 mile north of the A4 about half way between Reading and Newbury in Berkshire. By car, the turn off to the abbey from the A4 is about 6 miles along the A4 from Junction 12 of the M4. The interactive Google Map below shows our location more clearly. For GPS and satnavs, all you need is our postcode: RG7 5TQ.

By rail the nearest station is called Midgham, even though it is actually in Woolhampton village. Trains stop at Midgham from London Paddington, Reading and Newbury. You can plan a rail journey to here on the Great Western Railway website.

By bus, you can take Reading Buses Jetblack service from Reading Railway Station, destination Newbury Bus Station. This bus will stop at The Angel public house in Woolhampton village. You can view the bus timetable online.

There are no taxis available at Midgham station or in Woolhampton village. The nearest taxi rank is at Thatcham station, about 5 miles from Douai. The Guestmaster will be happy to supply phone numbers for local taxi firms if you would like to book one in advance. Jennie's Taxi offers a special rate for those going to Douai - you can book by calling 07967 766970. Please note that the Guesthouse can no longer offer to pick guests up from the station.

To enquire about weddings in the parish please call the parish office on 0118-971-5350 or consult the parish website. The abbey church is not generally available for weddings and funerals.

In order to ensure the safety of the monks and their guests, not to mention the monastery's poultry, dogs are not permitted anywhere on the monastic grounds without prior permission of the Bursar.
